Grazing Cover Crops in Wisconsin
Source: EPPIC, Eau Pleine Partnership for Integrated Conservation
In 2019 one of our watershed farmers successfully interseeded cover crops into silage corn. After they chopped the corn, they then were able to graze more than 60 beef cattle on 32a in the late fall for 2 weeks (it could have been longer but heavy rains caused less than ideal field conditions and they pulled the herd off the fields.) Another example of our innovative watershed farmers integrating conservation into agriculture to increase profit and soil health.
