Brian Corkill Installs Second Bioreactor on Henry County Farm

In October 2024, Brian Corkill installed a second bioreactor on his farm with support from the Illinois Sustainable Ag Partnership and UI Extension. When asked why he’s chosen to install edge of field practices on his farm, Brian says “if we can make an impact to help the environment, that’s what we should do. It is not necessarily all about the return on investment; it’s about making an impact on the environment and leaving things better than when I got here.”

Brian was a recipient of a Good Idea Mini-Grant, a program to encourage the adoption of edge-of-field practices and farmer-to-farmer learning about them. Good Idea Mini-Grants were made possible with funding from the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) and Walton Family Foundation.
